There's a difference between being lost and losing a version of yourself.

Being lost implies you had a map and somehow wandered off course. That you took a wrong turn and now need to backtrack to find the right path again.

Losing a version of yourself is different. It isn't a mistake. It isn't something you need to fix.

Some parts of you are falling away. The roles you played. The expectations you carried. The version of you who could tolerate what you can no longer tolerate.

Letting them go can feel like losing yourself.

But you're not lost. You're letting go.

When You Can't Unsee What You've Seen

There comes a point where you realize you're not the same person you were before.

You see things now that you didn't see then.

You were more trusting. More willing to believe things would work out if you just tried hard enough. More willing to bend to keep things intact.

Now you recognize the patterns. The compromises. The places you abandoned yourself to hold everything together.

Once you see behind the curtain, you can't unsee it.

And while that awareness can feel heavy, it also changes how you move forward. You're not naive anymore. You're awake.

The Disorienting Part

What makes this season so hard is that there isn't a clear replacement yet.

You've outgrown something. But what comes next hasn't fully taken shape.

The old ways don't fit the way they used to. The new way of living hasn't stabilized yet.

So you stand in between. Not lost. Just in unfamiliar territory.

And unfamiliar doesn't mean wrong.

What You're Actually Doing

Even when it feels like everything is falling apart, you're not starting from nothing.

You're starting from experience.

You see patterns now that you couldn't see before. You understand the cost of certain choices. You know where you abandoned yourself and where you won't do that again.

That awareness changes how you move forward. Not because you've become hardened. Because you've become honest.

You're not rebuilding from rubble. You're building with what survived.

And what survived is stronger than you think.

What Growth Actually Looks Like

Sometimes growth isn't becoming someone new.

It's remembering who you were before everything else took over.

Before the roles. Before the expectations. Before you learned to abandon yourself to keep everyone else comfortable.

She's still there. And she's been waiting for you to stop abandoning her.
